Mutaliens is the psychedelic vision of UK producer Matthew Kyriakides, also known through his projects Contineum and Dendrophile. A veteran of the underground psychedelic trance movement with more than two decades of experience as a producer, DJ, label manager, and creative innovator, Matthew continues to push the boundaries of modern psychedelic music.

Emerging from a period of artistic transformation, Mutaliens was born following the closure of Matthew’s long-running label, Mutagen Records. Free from expectations and established formulas, he set out to explore darker, deeper, and more twisted sonic territories while retaining the groove-driven energy that has always defined his productions.

The result is a powerful fusion of deep psychedelic atmospheres, driving basslines, hypnotic rhythms, and raw dancefloor energy. Designed to transport listeners beyond the ordinary, Mutaliens creates immersive journeys that blur the boundaries between movement, consciousness, and sound.

Recent years have seen the project undergo a significant evolution. Inspired by experiences within the global forest and darkpsy movement, particularly following the legendary Masters of Puppets Festival, Matthew expanded his musical palette beyond traditional full-on psytrance into higher BPM territories ranging from 148 BPM to 175 BPM and beyond. This evolution preserves the groove, depth, and emotional intensity of his earlier work while incorporating the relentless energy of modern forest, darkpsy, and underground bass music influences.

Now signed to the respected UK label Bom Shanka Music, Mutaliens continues to develop a distinctive sound that bridges multiple psychedelic worlds. His growing catalogue includes releases such as Lock Stock & 3 Sexy Beasts, the collaborative album Interconnected Dreams, and a series of forthcoming projects that further explore the project’s darker, faster, and more experimental direction.

As a live performer, Mutaliens offers a versatile experience tailored to the needs of each event. From deep, rolling, groove-focused psychedelic journeys to high-energy forest and darkpsy sets exceeding 160 BPM, Matthew carefully crafts each performance to suit the flow of the dancefloor while maintaining the unmistakable energy and atmosphere that have become synonymous with the Mutaliens sound.
